Have You Ever Thought About How Much Land Is Covered By Roofs?
Roofs account for an enormous area of impervious surfaces that water cannot pass through, creating more stormwater runoff.

The first few minutes of a rainfall event are the most polluting, producing a deluge of stormwater that runs along impervious surfaces, such as roofs, driveways, parking lots, and roadways collecting fertilizers, pesticides, vehicle fluids, grass clippings, pet waste, and litter before making its way directly into the Indian River Lagoon through canals and stormwater drains.

A 100-square-foot roof will produce 60 gallons of water within the first inch of rainfall! Rain barrels can help reduce the amount of water available to transport pollution to our lagoon.
